Notice for New STAR (School Tax Relief) Applicants

Due to changes in the STAR program resulting from passage of the 2016 State Budget by the State Assembly and State Senate, New York is restricting the STAR Program for NEW Applicants. (This does NOT include renewals).

Our records indicate you submitted a new application for the STAR Program for 2016 Assessment Roll. Due to these changes, made by the State, you will not see the STAR savings on your 2016 School Tax Bill. Instead, you will receive a check directly from New York State. The amount of the benefit is determined by New York State and should equal what your STAR savings would have been.

To be eligible to receive a check, you MUST register with New York State Department of Taxation and Finance by either visiting www.tax.ny.gov/star or calling 518-457-2036.

You MUST Register With The State by  July 1st, 2016 to Receive A STAR Check This Fall.
